With neither team leading my more than two goals, and with Fairport sending the game into overtime with two goal scored in the last seconds of the game, the estimated eleven hundred lacrosse fans were treated to a great game.

Section Five won two out of three as Penn Yan beat Silver Creek 17-6 and Canandaigua beat Hamburg 17-3. Webster Thomas fell to Orchard Park in the Class A game 22-10. In the three games, the combined scores were 61-19. Two of the games went into running time, with the third (Penn Yan) being decided with an 11 goal differential.

Penn Yan ended their league season third in Finger Lakes Division I with a 3-3 record (10-7 overall). Seeded first in the Class C tournament, the Mustangs defeated Livonia 17-5 to become the Section Five Class C Champions. The Mustangs lost to Corning East (Section 4) in the second round of the state tournament 9-5. It was the eleventh consecutive Sectional title for Penn Yan.
